Thanks for all the advice lads My 1st mash is brewing Lentil) and I am just doing some research into the next stage,now from what I can gather I no longer do one run as the airstill instuctions but I now have to start 2 or 3 runs topping and tailing until I achieve a clear run. Is this correct?

Mash a brew.
Strip run it down to % of choice,20% is a good place.
Spirit run,. diluted down to sub 30%.
Collect in lots of vessels.
Make some cuts, enjoy some quality!

Well I am still waiting for the mash to stop gassing and was wondering what's the difference between a stripping run and a spirit run when done in the air still? I have no control over the temp!

Stripping run is taking all product to somewhere around 20%.
Spirit run is combining all this product and re-distilling after adjusting to below
30%.
You do not need to control temp. and the airstill is no different to any other Potstill in behaviour here.

Thanks for the reply Robert So in essence the only difference in the stripping run to the spirit run is that I keep everything on the stripping run?

Recently started doing something similar with sugar wash to great success, definitely a vast improvement from running it through only once.

Can some kind person clarify which run I should remove the heads.

remove anything on the stripping run.
