My first strip run today on alembic pot still

Its started to come out at 70%, how do I do I get the recommended 40% turn the water up?

When doing a strip run you take all the spirit until it comes off @ 20%.

thanks vino, its now at 50% but the spirit is coming out warm so will read higher.

Run it as an experiment. Note what goes in and comes out, adjust water flow or whatever you can. Don't drink the first or last. Sip the middle or dip finger and taste. Leave it a day to breathe. Water to 30% and run it again if it's vile.

Its not vile it tastes quite good, got just over a gallon at 55%, stopped when at 20% it was starting to taste ropey..

If that was a strip, then I can promise that it will taste better after a dilute to around 30% and a spirit run.
Make cuts,save the heads and tails for another day.

looked for a recipe for soaking the botanicals in 2 strips to go through the alembic pot still. Just need the quantity for 2 x 5 gallon strips. What amounts to put in for thr gin run and what botanicals.
