Where am I today?...... In the shed with 50 litres of CF wash warming up! Starting to get the hang of things now. 3 strip and spirit runs under my belt and this is the 4th.
Certainly liked my "Almost Gordons" Gin from the AS, so will do a neutral next as the bottles have mysteriously emptied themselves!!

There is hope for us oldies yet still the best will be for a long time.
My Mum watched them live on Eel Pie Island in 1964(I think),at 4
years old I was too young to go, but when I worked at The Royal Star
and Garter Home years later met them all.

Good for you! Outdoor beer may need a little heat over the coming few days. :)

Yes socially Bill loves a pint of Guiness nearly as much as me.
Mick a Lager and Jerry Hall can do whatever she likes, but
White Wine. In The Roebuck at the top of Richmond Hill
outside the gates to the park. We used to go in after work
and Mick was a big fan of the home, he visited the old war
veterans frequently.
He wasn't alone up there, Pete Townsend (The Who) lived
in Wick house, still does.I got driven to Church in his
Ferrari and he came to the evening reception. He gave me
a pair of V.I.P. tickets to a concert and the wife and i went.
It was twenty years ago great fun and a great honour to serve
those old war veterans. :D

Dunno about that lot and their dated and mediocre (albeit well marketed) offerings.

I'd bet the Ruskin Arms in East Ham High Street North any day. The musical alma mater of the legendary Iron Maiden.........

Proper "Rock" music ;)

p.s. And their occasional "underground" there - think they called themselves "Aga Kahn" the night we saw them (and that'd be the mid 80's)........

oh the memories........

Piglet wrestling this morning.
You wouldn't think 25KG of young porker would have much of a fight...Oh they do!
Its ear was infected around the tag.
Easy to spray the outside, the inside was a different matter.
If it doesn't get better we may have to cut the tag out, that is a day for a three shredded wheat breakfast. :)

Pop it in the float.
Feed it into the hinge point of a gate.
Gently catch it against the wall using the gate. Purple spray should sort it. 9 /10 times.

Interesting weekend. Work has been real challenging lately so took a day off and made it a four day weekend. Thur/fri were stripping runs on UJSSM and a molasses wash. Disappointed with the UJSSM - very little smell in the low wines - just smells like neutral. No corn at all in it. put 15l of bakset into the next gen which is bubbling away furiously.

Then the molasses. I've had this fermented and sat in a sealed container for three months as I've not been able to get more molasses to use the dunder but a couple of weeks ago I scored 15kg of black treacle cheap !
Opened the container and was initially very disappointed, couldn't taste alcohol in the wash - figured there must have been a gap somewhere and the angels had had a party and taken way more than their share. Ran it anyway as I wanted the dunder. Holy Crap - only collected a little over gallon of low wines but I can't believe the smell from it. Jees - it's the rum I've been searching to make for about 15 years...

Took ten litres of dunder and fired them into the next gen. Figured that I had a spare fermenter and plenty of treacle it would be a shame to not use the dunder so set another fermenter going...

So on the bench right now we have 50 litres of neutral wash ready to strip next weekend. 30 litres of UJSSM in the last stages of fermentation and 50 litres of dark treacle rum bubbling away.

I too am holding a large lump of Rum, just letting it settle ATM
I have completed 12 washes and 5 on the go.
I have 26ltrs at 100 proof and am planning fruit infusions.
Coconut,Mango,Pineapple Orange etc... along with Coffee, Vanilla
Hazelnut Almond etc...
Been reading about flavouring and the way the big boys cheat and
deceive us all, in short they lie.
Over 80% of the flavour in a product goes in after the distillation. :D

I can't imagine why a commercial producer would lie about a product.

It appears to be common place in the production of flavoured Rums etc....
We know from experience how much flavour stilling strips out.
So they put it back by masturbation.

I agree with that entirely. My own research proved very similar.

Just not sure about the method you suggested to put it back....

Stripping 50 litres of neutral and realising two things..
My 50 litre boiler is slightly less than 50 litres.
My 50 litre mark on the inside of my 60 litre fermenters is slightly more than 50 litres..
Oh well, I've filled to the bottom of the fill port and when I've stripped 2 demijohns worth I'll power the boiler off, pop the fill port open, add the rest of the wash and run again!!
Mental note for weekend. Accurately mark 50 litres in my fermenters!!!
