So what are you really like?

Post by Easydrinker »

I cannot be the only one that has a 'minds eye' image of fellow posters?
It may be a little like meeting a hero from stage, screen, sport or music, should it ever happen?
"Oh F***, what a disappointment/pleasure/surprise/shame!"
I met Icefever once, he was pretty much my 'image' of him, if nicer than expected.
I was not his expectation of myself. :)
Other than Rumjohn, who managed to include himself in a couple of snaps on the old site, and a random pic. I once found of Jimmy, you are all a mystery to me.
NOT asking you to post selfies, just curious how other people find dealing with faceless people that they have (some) knowledge of.
Especially as lots of you are probably all over social media.
I have 3 sisters that share their daily lives via Facebook and skype, I refuse to go there.
Getting philosophical, must be time for bed.

ED to me that says more about you than Icefever (no disrespect intended). If it happens often, it indicates you have a great understanding of people. You can build a pretty accurate image of a person from observing their behaviour, a skill sadly lacking in my toolbox. Perfect if you want to watch the punters in a casino!

Honestly, I don't even try to imagine what people look like, and I think it's very hard to suss a person based on typed words on a page. I'll admit that I just use the avatar as what someone looks like. I'm guessing Gaza is no Johhny Depp though :D
Sure you may get a little hint at how stubborn/arguementative people are on a forum but this one is very well behaved so I don't think it helps much.

I can guess at age, sex etc but the rest I don't even think about.
I'm not under the affluence of incahol, thinkle only peep I am. Its just the drunker I sit here the longer I get.

Jonny Depp who is this bounder, this pretender. If he had my youthful good looks
my deep charming voice and my fantastic sense of humour, he would be famous.

Stick around, Mash and myself kick off every few months, well maybe I do, but he does generally goad me into it!
I am now taking medication, (Smarties, actually) and trying harder. :)
I think mash and all the Management here would agree that stubborn/arguementative people are welcome.
Just do it nicely, and have some facts to back up any preposterous claims!

I've read enough of the archive to see that! Hasn't happened for a while though. Mash said you started it ;)

For some reason I imagine every male on this forum to be a gruff, bearded, farmer style person in the finest Yorkshire tweed! You're probably as happy drinking "real cider" (the flat, cloudy stuff that looks like a bladder infection) as you are herding cattle. I'm just a wussy Southerner myself, languishing in the knowledge that I have hands that have never seen a days real work in their life. I think my time conversing with a guy named Ditch on a homebrew site may have clouded my judgement somewhat!
Thanks to this forum, I found my passion. Now I'm licenced too.

Brilliant post.

Gaza. This has changed my image of you. 🤣

Seriously.. I think more than a few of us are country types. But the when and how is a different matter. I certainly don't earn my crust farming or upp t'north.

Although I do channel my inner Yorkshireman quite often. Did you know they coach the Scots on how to be tight? 😂

Fun to see an old post re-surface.
Curiously, I Imagine most male posters here to be middle aged and denim clad!
