phantom wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 1:13 pm Well if you need some more spenders, gimme a shout. There's another forum/site I donate to annual as I figure it's worth the money as well. Just that we don't seem to have the option for that here, so ask and ye shall get, as it's also definitely worth it IMO 😁👍
Not quite sure how to respond to this post.
Are you suggesting a type of 'yearly subs.' phantom?
I figure that if I am alive, and wish to support something, then I will do so, via donation.
I don't want/need the equivalent of a Standing Order from my bank.
Am I missunderstanding you?.

Wasn't suggesting anything per se, but I'd happily use that option if it was available (£5 or £10 per annum isn't gonna break the bank IMO - especially if it was optional etc)

Soz mate, call me stupid, but am still not seeing what you are saying.
Optional does not enter into my banks method of paying Direct Debits..
What is the problem with making a donation, to what your bank account can stand, when you can?

For sure, donating a few quids is the easy bit.
Keeping the site up and running takes a little, (or a lot) more effort!

You make me sound like something I am not.

This has been (and still is) a very useful learning experience that was enjoyable as well as difficult. It isn’t something that Mash couldn’t do or any number of our members could - you can’t read the writings of Myles without thinking he would be capable of doing what I do.

I am actually quite proud to be able to technically facilitate the medium we choose to discuss our craft.

I still don't believe that we BIG up your behind the scenes work enough.
Sure, others could do it.
But, who would actually bother?
I am not that IT savvy, but when I go to check up on stuff, I find that you have been there first.
And for that, I thank you.
My new bestie Mash comes up with Teckie ideas for the site, but has not yet put one through to fruition.

Late to the party but just wanted to say that I found donating the way it is now, easy to do. If my donation arrived with Moss that is 😂A subscription might put people off, I for one don't like them, but I'm happy to contribute as and when I can. That doesn't mean I don't need to be reminded once in a while 🙄

May I second you there Jules.
As a member of the Admin. team, I also favour donations over subscriptions.
If you enjoy the service, and can give a little, once in a while, great!
If you are short of cash, we are still here.
Helping where we can.
I back this site in an effort to keep all readers safe, and to encourge members to communicate and share ideas.
And to keep it Ad. free.
Perhaps unusually, this site is not here to make money.
For anyone.
All donations are spent on server and other site admin. costs.
No-one takes a penny.

I think it's almost impossible to make money from a forum, especially when it's a small community like this one. I've been involved in a couple before and the admins usually paid more than anyone to keep them going. Ad free is definitely something to strive for. I will donate as and when I can, that's for sure. You have all helped me so much and the info on here is priceless. Long may it last!

I would like to thank jp1147 for making a further donation.
He has obviously enjoyed his last couple of years here.
Long may he continue to do so.
And long may donations keep us online.

Oh, and we also received a donation a couple of weeks back from someone that may not be a member.
I have emailed them, asking if they wished to be aknowledged.
I have an email address, no user name, matching the two is difficult.
No reply so far.
Mysterious donors are also very welcome. :)
