Not that it will impact any of youse,
but I have two new phones and one new sim card to play with during the festive period.
I should come out the other side slightly better equipped than going in.

Nah! it just means that you'll end up getting your sweary head on. Doesn't matter if they're the same make as before, you'll still end up spending bloody hours looking for the facilities that you can customise, so that the trumpet(s) work the same as before.

I know this as I have a new work phone and while it's austensibly the same as before, they've moved many of the facilities around and even trying to make the bloody thing have a ring tone and warning tones that I can hear (differentiate) from other cab noise (engine, radio, other traffic noise, etc)is a major PITA.......

Oh and of course, the IT wallahs aren't good at using conventional terminology to name stuff, just like if "it" comes from anything connected to the Linux/Open source world (and yes, that includes Android), they're great at making it do things but they know sweet FA about writing instructions that don't need a degree level qualification in IT to decipher WTF they're actually referring to.............

I admit there are more knobs and whistles on the new phones than I will ever use.
I want to send and receive texts and phone calls.
Maybe the odd photo or you tube.
I don't really need the ability to take photo's underwater.
But the fact that they can, may mean that they don't die the next time that it rains. :)

:+1: on the waterproofness Robert! Ours have been waterproof since our youngest (about 5 or 6 at the time) dropped my phone down the toilet! 🤦‍♀️

Simply 'cos I am trying the existing sim, to see if it is good or FCUK'd, and a new one, on a different network.
One phone will be the daily use and 'tother will be back up.

I had a friend who was determined to make it as a blues harmonica player. He felt he was on the road to fame and fortune when he was invited to play a couple of numbers with one of his favorite blues bands. As it came close to the time to join them onstage, he paid a preemptive visit to the gent's, all dressed up in his best suit, his harmonica tucked into his top pocket ready for use, when he noticed one of his shoelaces was coming undone. He put his foot on the edge of the toilet and leaned forward to tie it and sploosh! - his harmonica did a triple lindy into the bowl.

What he did next was a testament to how much he wanted to be a professional musician.

This is a 2020 joke adapted for 2021.
"A man walks into a bar!"
"What is that??"
"Its like a shop where they used to sell Alcohol before the Virus!!"
The man orders 20 large Scotches .
"Are you celebrating something special?" asks the Bartender.
"Yes, My first ever B.J.!!" says the man.
"Let me buy you the first one." says the Bartender.
"No" says the Man, "Cause if twenty don't get rid of the taste,
twenty-one will make no diff!!".
Boom Boom.
Mirror-signal-manoeuvre.

Phones are cheap enough to figure work arounds these days.
Although the CCP seems to have Chinaland on it's knees right now.
so I think twice about any cheap chinaland purchase these days.
If they can take the Alibaba franchise from its 3 Billion founder, do they give a fig about your bits of kit?

Hi peeps,
Not been round for what seems like ages, combo of lockdowns, crap weather, ill health and general malaise resulted to me giving up on 2020 and refusing to get up or dressed or leave the house for the last month or so (lost track of how long). This week have forced myself to stop sulking and put my big girl pants on, get up and participate in the weird world in which we currently live. So having been out and about am now sat drinking a huge glass of russian ribena and fizzy flowery shite (blackcurrant vodka and elderflower wine - this is what happens when you get the kids to label things) and eating through an imperial f**k tonne (as opposed to a metric sh*t load) of xmas goodies.

So thought I would drop in and wish all you lovely stillers a very merry xmas, and a better new year may all your drinks be alcoholic and all your eats be deliciously unhealthy, and hoping that you and all yours stay safe and well.

Cheers everyone

Jack

Cheers ED, all's well - was nothing serious - turns out lack of sunlight and veggie diet causes chronic vit D deficiency, couple of mega vit D shots and I feel human again - who'da thunk lack of sunlight could turn me into a basket case. Have missed scrolling through the posts and sniggering at all you guys banter - tis good to be back :sunny: :)
