I know, from looking at visitor numbers, that a lot of people visit this site, for a read.
As I write this, there are 33 guests online, none showing as bots.
And that is all that I know about these people. All I ever will know, unless they choose to speak to us.
I would like them to, the more the merrier!
Here we do not bite, but we do banter.
And we try to help.
If, as a visitor you just wish to come and read the site, you are very welcome, and always will be.
If you should choose to register, you may take away from it a little bit more.

Not today, well, actually today, in a tomorrow morning sort of way, I need to be up and mobile at 07.30 to help in the the scanning of one of my next door neighbours 1,000+ sheep.
So, it is time that I went to bed.
Nighty night good people, see you all tommorow night/tonight, the lord willing and the creek don't rise.
Although at the rate of the current snow melt, I may need a jet ski to get there!

It fills me with pride to read that, it really does.
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Today I stripped 25l of Kale wash using my sight glass for the first time. Wasn't that much to see :( .I actually do have a quick question, am I correct in thinking I might be able to insert the below
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001 ... web201603_
into the sight glass, and would I need add a dephleg, or could I just run it through my existing pot head?

Hi Minimag you got me a bit confused for a moment there.
Sight Glasses go on boilers, you have a tower sight glass
which you can fill with Copper mesh or springs or put in a
bubble plate which is what you pictured. The answer to
your Question is No you get control by dropping the power or
fitting a dephlag or both.https://www.stilldragon.eu/en/sight-gla ... -gold.html

Minimag.
If you have a 2" sight glass in your column, with a 2" clamp, then yes, you could use it.

I am unsure how it would help with a Pot still though?
These things are intended for reflux stills.

I did not know he was running a Pot Still. It looked like a glass column to me.

Am I miss-understanding something?
He mentions running it through his existing pot head?

And yes a reflux still needs more control than a bubble plate.

Can you or anyone link to his column?

I've sent Mash a pic, yes it is a T500 boiler, with a 2" Sight Glass clamped below a Pot head. I wanted to play around with a bubbler to better understand how they operate before forking out big bucks on a dedicated bubble column. This is why I wanted to know if I could use a single bubble plate in my tower sight glass with a pot head on top, I was trying to understand if this was feasible without getting a dephlag and other bits. Apologies for not making all this clear.

Fair enough dude.
You can certainly use a bubble plate and play.
Glad we solved the mystery. :)

It certainly reads like you can insert it.
I would question what the gasket is made of? That could be a lot of plastic or silicone filth in your vapour.

What are you trying to achieve?

When I first got started I bought a tower sight glass for my reflux column. The poor quality seals on that ruined a batch of voddie I made :( It was a cheap item off Amazon, should have known better. Changed the seals now but rarely use it. I got it so I could spot pukes but I only run clean wash's and don't overfill my boiler anyway. Its more of a novelty item that I can live without, I don't miss it :D

I run a 2 inch site tower glass under my t500 reflux column, cause I can really it looks nice, its the same as yours
with a Bubbler in it. The reason I bought it was to go under my Copper pot still column to use as a Gin Basket.
Convert by using one of these.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tri-Clamp-Ga ... 1195.m1851 Then just take
bubbler out and put botanicals in, makes awesome Gin with what you have now.

Did you have any issues with that mesh gaza? I don't know if mine was a tighter knit but I had issues with flooding when I installed one at the bottom of a sight glass

No problems buddie its just an ordinary gasket with mesh.
As you say are they all the same?? Put mine under my new
column (Copper), No packing in the column and no bubbler
in the sight tower and made 6ltrs Gin fine.
That was in the T500 boiler lid adapter because of small
load. 8ltrs 45% and 3ltrs water. Ended up with just over
six ltrs lovely Gin @45%.

Today was a stonking spring-like day, and for the first time in almost 3 months, at least some of my bees got out for a fly around.
Other than that I spent the day battening down hatches, as tomorrow is forecast to be a stinker.
I hope it is the last of the winter.
