What to do next

Post by Jules »

I'm hoping for some ideas here, being so new to all this I need a bit of help.

I've so far done a turbo wash, kale wash and tomato & lentil one which is the only one left to run. I will have 2 empty 60l fermenters and not quite sure what to do next. I do like jack Daniels whiskey and spiced rum so maybe there's something you guys and girls could suggest that's not too complicated and hard to mess up?

I've seen the cornflake recipe mentioned a few times but could not find a definitive recipe in the recipe section. Maybe I'm blind

I don't believe that there is a definitive cornflake recipe, everyone claiming that theirs was, if not the best, then at least good enough!
Not one that I have done.
I go the expensive route with distillers malt.

Thanks for the replies Ed and Gaza. A corn whiskey would be quite something if I could pull that off. Is there a good recipe for one that's on the simple side for simple people? 😂

UJ is a good start. It is essentially a sugar wash with the corn being used to provide flavour.
You can make it "more whiskyish" by substituting Liquid Malt Extract for some of the sugar.

Use 1.2 kg of LME instead of 1 kg of sugar. Try substituting about 1/3rd of the sugar.

There is also this, uses sweetcorn, viewtopic.php?t=25

The full on all grain corn whisky method is quite hard work, and it uses a cooked corn mash. Do-able but not an easy task.

Thanks Myles. I learned that it needs to have no preservatives from what I've read. Seems cheap enough to give it a go. I will do a wash of this next and try it. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated 😊
