Timers.

Post by Mash »

Of late we have discussed various CCS (cheap Chinese shite)

Go to buy a decent timer and the full avalanche hits you.

More CCS than you thought possible.

£5 will buys you some proper shite.
£10 - 15 isn't any better.

Regular readers will know I am am idle brewer, and leave things to get on and walk away.

A timer is key. A wearable/carried timer is terrific so you don't have to carry your phone everywhere.

I have only found one that is any good. But have returned some proper shite.

Optimum time.

I have had one for years Mash. An Omega Seamaster Chrono, not cheap
but for life and very accurate.

Don't get me started on watches...I could really get carried away. Dabbled in Rolex's in a former life.

But just needed I timer..
Do you use a kitchen timer Gaz? Where you set say 30 mins, press start and 30 mins later it bleeps or rings to remind you.

That's all I wanted.. But wearable & reliable.

Ps. Don't trust 'apps'. Many I tested failed, often stopping when other events on the phone interrupted them 😱

A lot of those electronic stopwatches will do a countdown.
You could wear it round your neck, you would look fetching
in Pink.

I will stick with my Omega's. I have just won an auction on the Bay for an Omega silver Snoopy
Moonwatch. Now that is the best and I do mean all those Rolex wearers as well.

Why complicate matters?
My mash tub/boiler has a built in timer.
I am never far away when it makes its annoying noise.
And if I miss it by a few minutes, so what?

Bring back sundials and relax.

How do three people from seemingly different planets manage to communicate on this site?

It gob smacks me, but it seems to work.
I am here for the long haul, to see new distillers find a way to what they seek.
Safe ways of washing and stilling.
Read , ask questions.
Then ask some more.
Stay safe.
