Orange Bitters

Post by Icefever »

Now I'm mixed up with you gin redknecks :D :D I've been surfing the net for info...came up with this.

I'm sure Scarecrow won't mind my posting this??? from the Aussie site...if it does then it can be taken down...

1 litre 95% alcohol
200g dried orange peel
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1/2 teaspoon coriander
4 cardamom pods
20 drops gentian extract

Go easy with the Gentian extract. It is extremely bitter.
Stick it all in a bottle for a couple of weeks.
Give it a good shake every day.

Once you have the flavour you like, strain it and Bob's ya Uncle.

scarecrow.

Ice.

That sounds like a nice accompaniment to a London Dry like Booths or Gordons.
Stir in a few drops with ice, sliced Orange and FT Mediterranean Tonic.
Thanks Ice. Is that a pint or a half.

I'd imagine that would last a really long time too. You'd only use a tiny bit at a time.
