De-icer

Post by Moss »

I understand that we are well placed to produce home made de-icer, using heads and whatnots

Has anyone ever done this successfully, and if so, how do you do it?

Moss
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

If it’s broken, it might be my fault, is my responsibility and there is even a slight chance I can fix it 😳

Damn.... and just as my last still session has produced some of the nicest stuff I have ever made!
Remember that Cheap De-icer usually re-freezes when you drive due to wind chill etc.
The main thing is there is a higher water content in the cheap stuff.

Not sure of the effect of the alcohol on the rubber windscreen surround, so a test before you try it in anger.

Mind you I'm not going out in the car if its icy... One of the benefits of being retired!

Here here, I park mine into the morning sun. Once it's thawed, I might use it. Lol 😂

Got caught out this year, and just squirted junkohol on it.

Shush!
Don't wake a sleeping gazza...

Watch out for your rubbers, and maybe stay below 40% alcohol?

Equally, resisting "Doing a Mash".
For the last 20 years, my car has been parked in the morning suns rays.
OK, I haven't personally driven it since October 2020.
Parking spot, to top of the drive does not count.

This coming Sunday (remember gazza!), marks a year since I last had a seizure, and I should get my licence back.
Maybe by Easter, given the DVLA back log.....

Three of us have a Jeraboam of champagne to drink during Sunday,
the other two are light-weights, I am looking forward to stepping up to the challenge.

It may be time to get the breathalisers re-calibrated, there has not been much point this year.

I am sure that there are folk in darker holes than the one that I feel currently stuck in.

If they let me out of mine, I will look around and see if I can help others.
At least, I might be mobile.

Mate, we will always be mates, at least as far as the endeavours of this site go.
We are in broad agreement there, me thinks.
That is enough.
We would make crap friends.
Constantly trying to beat the other around the head with a bottle.
Strange place for this post to end up.
Feel free to start a new thread "Haressment in the workplace" and move it :)

Bud, I am sure that we both might appreciate the difference between a mate and a friend.
And a few here seem to have bothered to read all of the diatribes that we have swapped over the years.
I am early, but Happy Xmas to You and Mrs Mash.
I really wish you both a happy and safe festive season.
I look forward to catching up about Bees in the spring, but that gives us much time to fight over the winter.
And I don't doubt that we will

And have a sparkling & wonderful Christmas break yourself.

If we were a bit modern we could do podcasts, and work through various subjects and pick them apart.

Off this week to give the bee's some Christmas sugar cake and a drag on an Oxalic fag 😁

Maybe next year I will bring some home 🤣🤣

My smart phone is smarter than me.
I use it to make and recieve calls and texts, and take the odd photo. I don't use any apps or go online with it.

On the bee front, I totally disagree.
Let them deal with any problems.
Don't feed, don't introduce chemicals, don't even open the hives.

I expect to lose one of my colonies this winter. I will be gob-smacked if they make it.

But, as my primitive strategy of hands off, saw me go from one, to maybe three colonies in a first year, and harvest 18+ Lbs of honey, then I must be doing something right?

Forget Varroa, leave it to the bees.
And at this time of year, there are no fellas.
Just ladies.
And as Mrs. Mash will tell you, leave it to the women

"Just ladies" ... Good point.

You make a good point about leaving them alone.

I will check out Bill Anderson's experiences with verrora mites.
