Yes, but I don't know if it's something I've done with my firefox settings, cos when I was using my phone to check in, generally it would ask me to log in but for the last 3 days it's retained my login when I select the browser app (chrome as it's an android phone)......

The board is relatively new and I often make tweaks and changes behind the scenes.
In order to be sure that these changes are implemented I have to purge the cache and sessions. This will have the effect of logging everyone out of the board.
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

They are when I am pressing them so regularly. YES. All Systems have a modicum of control over timeouts - I would just like ours to be extended a little bit.
All we are trying to achieve is that you need to be logged in to post. It is not really a security device. Forums are generally storing data of national importance, we could be a bit gentler.

Has nobody noticed that Moss hasn’t posted in this (or any) thread for a while? I know he checks in every day, but seeing as he isn’t a distiller and has little to offer the ebb & flow of the Forum posts, perhaps he doesn’t read every post.

If only someone sent him a PM, he might look at it on Sunday?

See, I reckon it can be an issue with many things.

I was having snags with my pc (actually, the snags were self inflicted - I'd done a "dist-upgrade" as they launched the latest version, and as usual, I'd just done the upgrade).

That's when I realised I was gonna have to down-grade until they've sorted the problems that arose (the upgraded version didn't seem to see either my NIC or WiFi card). Problem is, that the upgrade had already upgraded firefox, so when I did the "re-install" to revert back, it had also put something browser related into my /home profile - so I lost all my bookmarks and saved passwords.

To make matter worse, I couldn't recall which email I'd attached to the original registration, so each time I did the "forgotten password" thing, I had to do it 3 times for the 3 main email addresses I use, not knowing whether the server would send out the response.

It's only this morning that I've remembered which I used, then deleting the previous messages, done the "forgotten password" thing and then opened the email client and waited. It must have taken at least 10 minutes or so for the response to reset to drop into my inbox - then I actually read the damn thing and for the first time, noticed that the link in the email needed "clicking" to activate the new temporary password, before using it to log in.

Well, it's all worked ok and I've managed to get in (obviously) and get the password changed properly etc.

I'm now wondering whether some of the confusion (both on my part, as well as others), is that there seems to be some steps used that other sites won't or don't and we (I really) just get "click happy", proceeding as we may have done a thousand times else where, while things a fractionally different here ?

I suppose I can't really say for others, I can generally work out what I might have done wrong, but sometimes how to reverse or correct it causes further "knock on" problems..........
