Amazon isn't always the cheapest........

Post by phantom »

Was thinking about topping up on SS Classic range flavour essence packs (I do use all sorts but the SS Classic range is my go to, because they've proven to be consistent and pretty damn close to branded/originals).

Anyway, rather lazily, instead of drop down links, I typed "Stillspirits" into browser. An ad for love brewing was top but the Amazon link was first non-ad.

Clicked, only to find that the thieving f*****s have them all listed IRO £9-10 area.

Clicked back a couple of times, viewed the Love Brewing ad, through the sections to view the SS Classic prices and bingo, £5.50 to £6

Shouldn't be difficult to order enough for free shipping.

Pretty amazed with Amazon, who've been cheap and quick to supply previously (killed my coffee grinder on Saturday, the replacement arrived yesterday), but amazed at the steep numbers quoted for the SS Classics.........

And no, it's not a case of supporting big business over little or local.

I still prefer to see what I'm buying first, but as the local HBS died during the pandemic, if it's not available locally, I'm happy to find the cheapest online etc......

I am aware we should not recommend, however, ......

Paul at Brew Genie, give him a try. Oddly I have not ordered anything on line, quick call, arrange a collection and £3.95 for the SS Bottle (50ml) Dry Gin essence,
£4.95 for the Classic range.
My mate in Tywyn, any order over £60 same prices,
Never looked anywhere else.

I know Paul personally delivers GrainFathers chillers all over the UK as he does not trust shipping agents/couriers.
As I have typed I don't have a comparison because I don't shop elsewhere.

Don't forget that "Free" delivery is NOT free. You pay an annual subscription, AND usually slightly higher prices for the benefit of what was Next Day Delivery. Nowadays it can be up to 3 or even 4 days.
However, Amazon is pretty good with No Quibble returns, as long as you are careful unpacking etc.
