3rd distill, heads of not
Am going to use Sputnik on my stock to make more Gin. This has been stilled twice and cuts were made. Apart from diluting to 30% (currently 65%) do I need to make cuts again or would it all be good?
Trying to make more than I drink.

No mate if you have made good cuts you are using finished
product. If however you are making Gin with a lot of fresh
fruit in the recipe you might want to throw the first 20ml
or so to avoid the worst of the fruit oils
Good luck
Happy stillin'

Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I always discard the first 50ml of any run just to be safe.
As to fellow Gin Lover, I am so glad I never have to pay £20 plus for a small bottle of 20% artificial Artisan crap.

Just out of curiosity, Gaz.
If i ran 2 litres of 40% Neutral through the Airstill how much can i expect to recover?
I presume some is lost in the dilution blah blah?

Yes you will loose some, I normally shut down at 40%.
You will get about 950ml at 72% approx.
Water to 40% and end up with 1.6 or 1.7 approx.

I answered this when drunk, then deleted.
The amount of heads left after 2nd run with cuts will be tiny and may even add a flavour character that you like.
I'd still separate the different jars on a third run, just because it's no trouble to do.
I couldn't taste the difference most of the time, but maybe you can?

Re: 3rd distill, heads of not
After a strip run, followed by a spirit run, and cuts, subsequent runs for me are all good, I did try for a "Super" neutral once, but it tasted no better than my usual filtered neutral.
Cue the "My neutral is so fecking good that it doesn't need carbon filtering" brigade.
I throw a little if rectifying a gin from my neutral.
Some of those botanicals hide some weird shit inside.
Robert.
