Blast from the past

Post by Icefever »

I want to make a Lentil wash today (day off work) I have not made one for...maybe 2 years????..so off shopping later for a bag of red lentils.

I needed to refresh my old grey noggin on the weight of said lentils in a 25-litre wash....so I hit the search button for lentils. What I didn't realise then was that I used the Archive search, and bang back to Forum number 1....all the old member's names, the chat room..what a blast, anyway I now know the answer to my question.

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Yes. Is that how it was spelt? Of course it was Woolworths!!!!! Another life time eh?

60 years, gone in the blink of an eye. Feeling melancholy today.

You started it.

What's an assistant?

And there were those little scoops that children licked as they were not tall enough to reach the sweets above.

Great times....

Wow! My Daa was a butcher for a time in Wellington or Shrewsbury, it may have been Dewhursts. I recognise the name obviously but memory is evading me until I sleep/ASC then I will be able to recall.

Yes, my Daa said everything was so cheap/low cost, he had previously slaughtered on farms.

Dewhurst was a huge chain outlet.

Your post has sent me through a cascade of memories of which shops were present in the local towns of my childhood and youth....Thank you.

Both my wife and I come from competing families of butchers.
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

I'm a butchers boy too! Ran away to sea then just like my bro. :)

My father worked for a time at Galliers the butcher in Wellington. After a nap the answer 'raised' itself to the visible surface of my consciousness.
