The ultimate test of honesty

Post by EchoSevenNine »

So...

How much do we all drink, how often and do you think it's an acceptable amount?

Me personally, i'd have a double Whiskey most nights and a Friday and Saturday maybe 3 or so each night. Don't really see the point in single measures to be fair :D

I have a tiny plastic jug, holds 100ml, that’s my shot measure - 7 drinks to a bottle.

I like easy maths! 👍

When I’m on nights, I’ll have 1 or 2 after work - just to help me sleep.
Works a treat. 😴
‘Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain - and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving.’ Damn! I’m so shit at that last bit!

1 or 2, once or twice a week maybe. Admittedly they're probably doubles!
I've had something every night since the schools broke up though

OK, I'll be the first to confess.

I have 2 - 4 beers/pints and then roughly a half a 70cl bottle each night.

I'll go for a few weeks without any drink at all then maybe have a single large one. Following week I might have a couple of large ones or I might have nothing at all. I drink a lot, lot less than I used to when working as a chef for nearly 30 years. Major back problems put a stop to that.

Couple of months ago was a totally different affair. One of my other interests is wildcamping/bushcraft. Went out with a mate to one of our local haunts and took a bottle that had an essence in it. Not a chance getting into my hammock after drinking the lot so I though it would be a good idea to sit in my camp chair around the still slightly burning fire. Fell off the chair and decided to sleep where I fell next to the fire covered over in an expensive homemade topquilt.

Was woken up by my mate in the morning with a cup of coffee and told to drink it before he told me something. My head feeling more than fuzzy I insisted he told me what was wrong. Some silly pratt had fallen asleep, rolled over during the night on top of the still hot remains and burnt every bit of clothing I was wearing. Thermal trousers and topquilt burnt beyond repair and coat with holes in it. Luckily not a single mark on any part of my body.

Spent three days suffering the worst hangover in over 30 years, couldn't eat or drink hardly anything, was sick as a dog but not a headache at all, just ill.

Did I drink the lot, I'm not so sure. I do remember tipping the bottle over but not totally sure how much it lost. Have never managed hangovers, suffer like hell with them and that's why I haven't had many bad ones over the years. This was was certainly a wake up call though. And bloody lucky I came out burn free but a lot lighter in the pocket.

Believe this or not.

20 years ago I had to sign up with a new GP to get some holiday type jags,
Asked how many units I drank a week, I thought hard.
"Maybe 100?"
Stupid woman asked if I understood a unit of alcohol.

My Dental surgery asked the same question a couple of weeks ago on a medical form.
"Maybe 160?"

For today, having just done a quick count, it is around 20, but I haven't finished yet.
It does keep me online quite late as my posts may ramble, but I try hard to make sure that they have no typo's.
I own two quality breathalysers to ensure that I don't drive drunk.
I am a registered organ donor.
The lucky fucker that gets my liver is set for life!
Oh, and I had a hangover once, I think it was 1980, Chinese New Year for sure, one hell of a night!

Not saying that I am big and clever, just that we are all different.

Robert.

Kicker; I am about 5'6" and weigh lesss than 10 Stone. :D

It is clear that God if she exists is not a Celt or we would have two livers and only one of the less useful things like lungs and kidneys.
