Help with a Gin

Hi I'm trying to make a gin not a great fan of a strong juniper taste my other half was given some bloom London dry gin and described as a floral gin.

I've done an Odin easy gin but find it a bit to bitter presumably the juniper but I'm no expert. I've bought some ingredients in the past I'll list
Juniper berries
Cardamom seeds
Dandelion root
Burdock root
Angelica root
Oris root
Calamus root
Liquorice root

A varied selection I was going to try and make a Dandelion and Burdock Gin at the time. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions don't mind if I have to buy other ingredients but I think I like the not so bitter gins and I've been reading and bought some fever tree Mediterranean light tonic in 150ml cans rather than Aldi litre bottle. Trying to be a snob

Thanks for all your suggestions in advance I have to do at least 5 litre runs on a induction hob in my 50litre still was looking at getting something smaller but blew my budget on a 100litre still instead

If your lady likes floral, try some Elderflower or Rose hip
A recipe I tried for 2ltrs with the sputnik in the Airstill.
2ltrs neutral 1 ltr water.(so double for yours near)
20g Juniper
10g Coriander
4g elder flower
4g liquorice root
2g hibiscus
1g Bergamott
1g Rose hips
pinch Orris root
Soaked the lot in skinned sliced Cucumber for 5 days
filtered and dropped to 42% ummm ummm!
Fever tree is the nuts!!! the med is fruity baby

Thanks guys and girls I have to admit it's for me not Mrs Stiller the Blooms Gin has chamomile in it Jenny, Also pomelo and honeysuckle. Apparently gin makes Mrs Stiller aggressive so I'll be keeping her away from it. Do you think less juniper would work. And what abv are we talking about for the neutral? How much do you collect? Please more details. . Would I pot still like an OEG?

Looks like I'm shopping tomorrow any ideas what I can do with all my root's I'd like to make an Dandelion and Burdock gin if possible it reminds me of my childhood

I use 2ltrs of neutral at 40% add a litre of water
and collect down to 40%, so you do loose a little
300or 400ml. I use an Airstill for my Gin which is a
small pot still.

Sorry for dumb question but is that 40% off the spout or the total of the collection jar.

I ran an Airstill for 2+ years but sold it when I upgraded wish I'd kept it now been looking at cheap ones off of Amazon

Can anyone see any problems with this I know it 750w can get a cheap power control off eBay to run slower and not sure if has a safety cutoff but will not be leaving unattended.

I got a similar one off eBay, €60.
Decent quality, but when I connected it to a power meter it’s only 450w - maybe just my one - and doesn’t really matter as have to reduce down to 350w anyway.

Definitely worth the money as I use it to distill water as well.

I've checked my still 3 litres covers the bottom quite well so I'll put off any new investment for now thanks Mr Mac for your help I'll keep it in my basket for now.
I've got 5 litres of various grain and rice neutral which I am really impressed with that I'm going to use.
Need to source some more bots will try the floral gin recommendations can't find bergamot except as an oil so may replace with the chamomile.

While I wait for new botanicals I'm going to do this per litre of 40%

10g Juniper
5g. Coriander
2g. Dandelion root
2g. Burdock root
2g Angelica root
0.5ml Almond extract (alcohol base )

I'll let you know how it all goes I'll start tomorrow 24hour maceration and run in the boiler collect down to 40% abv off the spout.

Gaza I had no idea what you mean with skinned sliced cucumber.

It makes her indoors well up when I skin and slice
a Cucumber.
Peel the Green skin off the outside then fine slice.
Good for steeping in Gin needs about 5 days.

Well I'm drinking my gin it's not great but it's drinkable don't think I have enough flavour do people lightly crush the juniper and coriander I didn't this time. I ended up running 3 litres of 40%abv and 2 litres of water got 1400ml at 68% abv I'm happy with my return.

Hands up, I bash the bits from Juniper and Corriander, to lightly crush is for pussies
But hey, that is what works for me.

YES.. lightly crush to a pulp with mortar and pestle.

I use an electric spice grinder bought for me at (Sorry ED)
Xmas.

I've just got me a pestal and mortar from the range picked up some JD chips while there also noticed they have Jim Beam chips also but I'm to tight to buy both. I'll try another run with lightly pulmirised bots and increase the Dandelion and Burdock to 4g.

Just give a good squeezing and you will release more flavour.
Have just filtered and tested the latest tea and Apricot Gin
and I have to have another and probably another then...

Sounds a very nice concotion doesn't it.

You may have to look for the Tea Gin recipe on the old site,
if you can not find will repost. Then 500g dried Apricot shredded
in the Kitchen thing, add to 2.5 ltrs Tea Gin and soak for a week.
Its a goodie.

Seemingly having no sloes locally to harvest this year, a couple of days ago I picked blackcurrants to treat to the same method.
