Sainsbury veg bags

Post by Mash »

30p net bags. Made from pet.

Food safe and cheap.

Ideal for oak chips or fruit infusions.

The egg is show size.

They are really handy aren't they mash. I use them for straining my cornflakes whiskey gloop through. I put them in my apple press they are fairly strong and will handle a bit of abuse :D I have a few of em for brewing type situations and can recommend them. Cheers Bob

PS. The label with reusable produce bag written on it falls to bits when wet so remove it before use:thumbsup:

Is the mesh fine enough to catch blackberry seeds?
Might make things easier for this years blackberry vodka (with cinnamon, clove and sugar) the missus loves it.

Is there an Aldi version?

Can’t quite stretch to Sainsbury’s - it’s a bit grim up North!
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

There is a Lidl version.
They may be 3 for 99p, but don't quote me on that
And PET is not HDPE.
PET ,Oak chips and high strength infusing? Not for me.
PET in wine making, for sure.

I'm not sure he ever sanitized anything for his Parsnip wine, although he did speak of Campden tablets in a hushed voice.

Tough one. I reckon so, but not sure.

A SS coffee dipper filter would. That clears JD BBQ chip dust. Stunning @ £3

PET is the way to go.

A quick google and it looks like HDPE is safer, Mash?
Thinking about it I could just use some cotton cloth to strain the juice from the seeds/skins, last year I made 2 gallons with fruit just loose in the demijohns and there was over half a gallon of waste... Got some wild damsons to use also this year.

Cotton might trump any plastic?
I use a fine SS sieve for fruit pulp, but still have mucho sludgeo.
A pillow case,(inside out), works, but you can grow a beard waiting for it it to drain.

Hadn't seen these before but having read about them had a look in Lidl.
2 for 59p :+1:

Think I'll probably use them for the designed use though, reduce plastic etc etc

Traditional 'silk' organza.. Really? On the description I could only find the word mesh. Buyer beware!

Keep them away from high strength alcohol and they will be fine.
Good for wine etc, but maybe not an infusion?
Anyway, you now own them and are duty bound to use them instead of throwing them in the ocean.
