That is not bad, as Morrisons have recently put up the price of a 2Kg bag of Silver Spoon by 20p to £1.30.
Can't even blame that on brexit, made from British sugar beet!

That's a good price.

I often fill up a carrier bag with 9 bags. Good fit and easy to explain. Christmas baking season now :D

I was distraught to find B&M had put their sugar price up last week :D . Tight sods increased the price of a bag by 9p.

Now in line with most other stores at 59p. Still bought 25 bags though. Always get the 'drink your tea sweet, do you'. comment. They look quizzingly when I tell them I take sweetener. I just tell them I'm making a lot of beer and jam.

meh! swings in price between about 5p and 20p per kilo aren't unusual. that's the nature of an internationally traded commodity like sugar.

perhaps it's better to keep a stash of "sugar money" so that when we see it for about the 50p a kilo mark, we can top up the sugar stash.......

I know that when I see it cheap, I get about 25kg and if I can make 2 runs to the shop, well.............

lidl is a euro per kg here, about as cheap as you get unless you go to the chiniese shops tha tsell in bulk, then you get 25kg for 19 euros.
personally I don'e use enough of it to warrant a big bag, I mainly use it for UJ and don't run it that often

Well, I can't say for all, but 25kg is "only" 4 batches for me i.e. 6kg made up to 25 litres with water and a bag of vodka star.........

I don't routinely use clearing agents anymore, I just allow for the 7 days fermenting and I leave it for at least another week for it to drop as much sediment as possible.

It still seems to distill out ok, in both my air still and my T500 - but yes, I do routinely double distill and carbon filter.......

I use much less, a kilo or so per 10 liter, usually 2kg of sugar in to a 35 l fermenter. Reckon the grain takes up 10l space and dont fill to the top, so 20l ish

I get a 25kg from the cash and carry for 13 quid.

Couldn't be bad to that.

I may have trumped you all today.
Had a £12 off a £60 voucher for Tesco.
3x5 Kg bags silverspoon @ £3.14 included in the shop.
All they had.
FINAL price, a fraction over 50p a kilo.
I have a £9 pound voucher off next weeks shop.
If they have refilled the shelves, then I will have some of that!

Robert.

Haha, I didn't even consider VAT Mash!
Don't often do cash and carry. It's the whole " go in for one thing, get to the check-out and somehow it's always 3 figures" issue!
Cheaper not to go at all
Guess the search for low priced sugar continues :D

It is only last week that I remembered an incident from my childhood, when we built what was basically a pipe bomb.
For experimentation.
The local Park keeper was really pissed at the hole we blew in his park.
Hindsight tells me I am lucky to have made it through that, and all the the other shit that we tried.
Exploding bike handlebars and the like...

When the devil finally tells me where I am going to die,and when, you can bet that I wont be there.

Brings back memories when my kids were small. Used to bring home a little dishwasher cleaner from work, add a drop to a 500ml coke bottle with a few pieces of scrunched up aluminium foil. Quick shake, drop and run. Those thick bottles would increase in size ten fold and the band could be heard half a mile away.

Next day the police would drive past the house very, very slowly, looking in our garden as they did. Not a chance of doing it now with all these 'threats' to national security.

Equipped to make an explosive device - ten years, send him down !!!.
