Irish Cream Recipe Preserving

Post by StillBrewing »

Fancy making a bottle or three of this for the Christmas celebrations. Salted Caramel, Orange and the normal recipe is in the pipeline.

The recipe isn't the problem as there are plenty out there. Even though these sort of drinks are supped pretty quickly, keeping them any length of time has always been the problem for me as they tend to curdle after a while.

I did read somewhere on the web that the addition of 1g of potassium sorbate per bottle would increase the preservation time to several months. Has any member here actually tried this. What are your thoughts on this.

Cheers

With mine it is not so much curldle as thicken! At least initially.
I have just tested some from a half bottle made and leftover from last year, it had separated some, but shaking the bottle restored the consistency.
Why add anything?, the alcohol contained is enough to preserve the drink, mine still tastes pretty good.
It is going to be hard not to drink it all now! :D
