Making booze, drinking it and getting fat!

Post by Easydrinker »

So, I make booze, beer, wine and spirits.
I drink lots of it, 'cos it is there and cheap.
The calories, those invisible creatures that live in your wardrobe, and make your clothes just a little smaller everynight are really starting to piss me off!
My clothes are starting to get really tight.
If my booze didn't taste good, I would not care.
These calories are impinging upon my lifestyle.

Anyone else noticed this?

Robert.

Yup and I bet they have really been busy since you started feeding them on beer.

I have the same problem. Drink more wine /spirits.

... Or make drier beer. Adjust your mash temps.

Having a office job and no physical hobbies does not help either, I try to mitigate it by keeping a close eye on the weight, I keep ballooning if I don't.

Was up to 100kgs last xmas, did a few diet things, hit a low of 82kg and am about 85-87kgs now, and most of it is on my gut.

trying a 16/8 approach now, it quite good as it eliminates all late night snacking/drinking.
basically don't eat or drink calories (coffee/tea/water is fine) for 16 hrs a day and eat/drink what you want the other 8hrs.

I KNOW THAT I NEED TO DRINK LESS.
For various reasons.
Owning a couple of quality breathalysers keeps the public safe, and me from driving drunk.
That used to be my biggest concern.
I have worked around that, and still allowed my alcohol tolerance to reach a stupid level.
Not suffering hangovers helps.
But I am going to start drinking less alcohol.
Not climbing on any wagon with the Sally Army, I would fall off from time to time. :)
But if I can get back to the point where I feel a couple of pints, instead of waiting for the seventh or ninth?

Apologies if some of my posts on here start to make more, or even, less sense.
I am doing it for fatness.
And well ahead of New Year revolutions!

I was rained off todays job, and spent a while with a calculator and worked out why I am gaining weight, in hard numbers.
My beers average 190Kcal a bottle, -I was drinking 7 or 8 a day :o
The plum wine that I now posses 30 bottles of at 13% is still sweet and comes in at 796Kcal a bottle!
The rhubarb wine waiting to be bottled at 10.5% is 35g of sugar per litre sweeter!

Thank feck that my whisky comes at a moderate 55Kcal a measure, or 220 for one of mine

Beer is now rationed, wine is now a treat, and I must drinky whisky, gin and neutral only.
It's gonna be a hard xmas season!

SP. left in cos it made me smile :)

I speak for myself only and mean no judgement on anyone, as it would be incredibly hypocritical.

In order to avoid getting the invitations to play Santa that I have got for many years now, I limit myself to an absolute max of 4 beers or glasses of wine on a night in and mostly try and keep to only 2, then shift on to spirits, for which I believe 2 ice cubes and a dash of whatever are fine mixers.

The occasional night out is a different story.

The beer really does put the gut on and red wine is not much better.

Edit : I wrote the above before seeing your above post Robert.

You make good point there. Beer puts the weight on. Agreed.
Red wine shouldn't if fermented dry. BUT.. and here is the rub.. because the supermarket buyers insist that vinyards back sweeten the wine. So yes purchased Red is a gut builder because of the added sugar.

It is a motherfecker that i have started to make good beers, as I discover that I must drink less of them!
Life just loves to slap me in the face, or so it seems.
Anyway, a bit of a wake up call maybe?
I have been drinking like the proverbial fish, for a long time now. :)
My body is not the machine that it once was.
Time to admit that I may need to slow a little.

I had some dental work a couple of years ago that necessitated antibiotics of the kind that don't go well with alcohol.
Didn't drink for a week :o

I've always maintained a portly frame and I'm sure the beer is to blame, I have had, due to illness 'time off' but found myself bored shitless just sitting watching tv when I love messing about in the workshop brewing and welding, a marriage made in Heaven.
I'm not as think as you drunk I am...

I ration my beers to three, or less a day now. Other booze, I don't count.
Quelle surprise.
Slowly, my weight is going down.
it really is a M.F.
Even my body wants to 'high-five' itself.

Not really wanting to bang on about this, but I started the thread, so actually do own it.
Last week, I felt like a fat sh*t.
This week, I feel less, and less like I will explode.
Not comfortable yet, but close.
I had not realised that the little bit extra in weight would impact so much.
It is your life, live it as you will.
Me? drinking less beer, although that is not easy...
I want to be be drinking it 10 years from now.
I have lived a long time without self control.
It don't come easy.

Good on you lad, I can relate to the exploding feeling, came about after xmas last year, to much food and drink and not giving a damn.
I'll try not to overdo it this year but its damn hard with all the food and drink just there at the table looking at you " eat me, eat me!!!"

There is an awful lot of xmas stodge on the store shelves right now.
I lost my sweet tooth years ago, so resisting the sweet stuff is easy.
It is the savoury that tricks you.
Have you ever looked at the amount of calories in Pork Pie?
