An early Happy New Year

Post by EchoSevenNine »

Not that I'm sure many have noticed, but I recently got a new job and the daytime browsing time has been pretty much non existent. :D

Anyway, a bit early, but a very happy new year to you all and a huge thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way, in getting started in this great hobby.

Long may StillSmarter live!

Bah humbug!

Sorry, but crimbo, new year, etc. I haven't seen anything to celebrate for at least a decade. It's all such cliche nonsense.

Crimbo is mostly just a sales thing aimed at kids, and new year is just resetting the rat race bollocks.

Sure, I don't slag it off because I enjoy the time off from work, but the core "reasons" are an irrelevance IMO.

If you lot have a good time, well that's brilliant, all power to you. Me? I'll just be watching whatever repeats I can't remember from first time round......

Please don't take offence phantom, but you are kind of like the Frankie Boyle of this forum?
Sometimes astute, sometimes a little off track, always worth a read.
If I have offended, just ask and I will redact/delete this post.
Very happy to see you here and posting.

Don't mind that analogy at all Robert. Frankie Boyle makes me laugh while managing to convey his points so they're hard to forget.......

As I get older, I realise what a waste of money and effort these particular events are. All the religious connection means nothing to me, and etc etc.......

I just enjoy the time off for the break........

All the enforced enjoyment is rather banal IMO........

I will agee not everything is enjoyable.
But I do enjoy the time to catch up with friends, and party to excess. :)

Meh! was thinking that it's less about the destination and more about the journey.

Both are pleasant as separate products but mixed? oil and water come to mind.
