Still Smarter

Didn't know that Bengals were known for aggression to other cats - and while they're very beautiful animals, I understood that they are still closer to wild than most other domesticated moggies.....

Still trying to find the time to find some jenever locally (on the Todo list but not a priority). Like British Rail, I'll get there eventually........

So, the first pic from the new phone (a OnePlus 10T) and the picture tells you the rest.

Ordered online from the Whisky place in Tonbridge (or is it Tunbridge Wells? can't remember). Anyway, about to taste a sip neat, then I'll taste some with some tonic (I have no idea what the Dutch serve Jenever with).

Well that's a bit of a "WOW" moment.

Neat, it tasted very like a light, smooth whisky that's been steeped with some juniper. Just that it has almost a hint of sweetness, then with a tonic mixer it gained that tonic bitter/sweet note but the flavour sort of "expanded".

Very impressed and wondering how I could go back to "normal" gin.

I don't follow why there isn't an essence for it, except for the marketing BS that we all have to tolerate......

I just put it into search and re-read Myles description and picked the bottle from the description etc.

Dunno about "all" theJenever types, but very impressed with it. Tasting neat gin like a London dry is like a mount full of after-shave, whereas this is pretty decent to my taste.

It's pretty good with tonic, coke seems to smother a lot of the flavour, think I'll try a few more mixers.....

I found Myles info about Jenever more useful but the diffords info was an interesting read.

The bottle I pictured was £23 (plus postage), which considering it's a litre bottle, I thought a reasonable price.

Definitely worth a try IMO. Thinking it'll replaced normal gin for celebrating things like crimbo (I'll still keep up with normal gins though, as I can make those myself ).

Just done a bit more reading before I take the plunge. When jenever is drunk as a chaser, normally lager, Dutch lads refer to it as kopstoot or headbutt to you and me. The next time I have a bit of white dog I'm having a go at this one.
