I always put my kale wash in the airing cupboard, it loves me for doing it too. Temp is 25 to 28c ferments dry in 10 days. I then put the fermenters somewhere cold for 3 or 4 days to clear the wash, any shite/cloudiness drops out of suspension so you get a lovely clear wash to syphon into your boiler. Copper is always good
It's meant to help improve the quality of your spirit as well as helping prevent boil over and an audible warning that it's getting up to temp.

Cheers ..I was going to get some copper pipe olives and bang flat would that work? How many do you add?

Dunno if there's any guidance about how much copper to use, I just use some "slices" of 15mm pipe in my air still (2 to 3mm slices). No trimming or tidying the ends as the rough burrs help like broken glass or other "boil enhancers"......

Oh and I use about a handful.........

Half a tumbler of flatted copper is about right.

Too many and they won't be able to move or tinkle.

Catching up on here, Mash, yes I've had kale wash go quiet on me but easily sorted with a bit more nutrient. I think the kale had been too long in the shop and I was a bit tight with it too. I normally use 200g for 100L of wash. Nettles will be springing up soon so I'll be back to using them as nutrient soon

The free range chucks are currently locked away, due to bird flu and this is the spring to try and deal with the Ground Elder and other green vermin.
We have the product, it's use had been a problem, hitherto, due to free range.
Maybe something good to come out of bird flu lockdown?
