Good link Ice.
In summary then..
Nothing "live" from anywhere.
Nothing recorded.
Nothing BBC ever any-which-way.

"Remember, if you watch or record TV programmes live on any channel or TV service, or download or watch any BBC programmes on BBC iPlayer, you need to be covered by a TV Licence."
So to be sure, you need a freesat box, that doesn't tune into BBC and does not record? Not seen one to be honest. Anything else leaves your ass exposed imo. You can get iplayer on your phone?
I have to say I am left with the feeling you will need a good strong constitution to survive without a TV licence. The rules aren't written in your favour, you really need to live on the moon (without broadband) to be safe.
£158 for the BBC??? for what??
Change how you look at it. You could see it as good insurance against someone discovering an oofing great still in your shed? So to quote you...
just imagine what parts for the still I can buy

I think I tv license would make an excellent insurance policy for your still? You would pay £158 not to be arrested.. And it comes with free telly.
Not trying to start a fight, just looking at the bigger picture?
Tread carefully mate.
